Delta State’s political landscape is witnessing a seismic shift as top political figures, including Senator Ned Nwoko, Barr. Chukwiji, Chief London, Over-Do, Juan Governor, and Hon. Chika Ossai, have defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sources close to the defectors reveal that their decision was driven by allegations of poor treatment, lack of inclusiveness, and internal marginalization within the PDP. Many of these leaders, who played crucial roles in the party’s past successes, reportedly felt sidelined and undervalued despite their contributions to the party’s growth.
Leading the new political force are Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, who have provided a platform in the APC for these aggrieved politicians to realign their ambitions and contribute meaningfully to Delta’s development. With these defections, the APC is gaining ground, and the PDP’s hold on Delta politics is now facing its biggest challenge in years.
This development signals a new beginning for Delta State, as the shift in political allegiance could pave the way for stronger opposition, fresh leadership, and a more competitive political environment. Certainly this will be the turning point for a New Delta! Time will tell.
